Band is an extracurricular activity, operated by a Band Manager and Band Conductors, who are paid for their services.  Members of the band pay a fee for the band program to cover operations expenses.  2025 fees will be around $950 for the year – less than $20 per week. The other financial commitment items are: weekly private tuition, instrument purchase or hire and band shirt purchase.  

There are a number of costs associated with being a member of the band, some of which are up front.  Here is an approximate breakdown:

Fees are around $950 (TBA) per year - this is dependent upon the number of children who sign up as the costs are split between the number of band members.  

The fee covers:

• Ongoing conducting fees for conductors for the year – plus any other performance evenings, assembly performances that your child will be required to participate during the year;

• Administration expenses

• Entrance fees for music festivals during the year;

• Experiences such as workshops, guest conductors, guest performers etc

• Costs relating to the purchase of music and music books; administration costs incurred in relation to band, such as photocopying and stationery, as well as maintaining common equipment such as music stands;

• For percussion, keyboard and bass guitar students, a wear and tear fee is charged to cover the costs of replacing and repairing amplifiers, leads, drum equipment used during rehearsals etc.

A registration fee is invoiced on confirmation of registration and is payable as per the payment terms on the invoice.  The balance of the fee will be invoiced in Term 1 and payable by the end of Term 1 or Bandamonium (whatever earliest date is).   Direct Deposit payments are accepted for payment of fees. 

Payment plans (if requested) can be arranged on a case by case basis.

Refunds or part refunds will not be given to those who leave Band after Term  1.

Other expenses when learning an instrument/joining band:

Tutor Lessons

One  lesson per week – approx $47 - $50 per 30 minute lesson.  Tutors set their own rates and the lessons are an arrangement between the parent and the tutor.

Instrument Hire or Purchase

 Prices vary depending on instrument and supplier.

Band Uniform

Available at the uniform shop – approx $25 for Shirt. There is a large pool of second hand band uniforms.
